Each of our Brand Ambassadors receives two boxes a year filled with everything they need to meet all of the challenges and sometimes have some left over for other projects. Our team hand selects what each Ambassador receives in their boxes. We also have very generous industry partners that supply batting and thread. This year we have a new partner to bump the creativity factor up a notch!

Our partners this year are Aurifil, Hobbs Batting and AccuQuilt for partnering with us for this fun year! We appreciate them so very much!

Hobbs Quilt Batting offers the best in batting from cotton to polyester; they have it all!

Accuquilt Ready Set GO! has everything quilters need to make cutting simpler! To see this collection, please watch the AccuQuilt Ready. Set. GO! Ultimate Fabric Cutting System video.

Welcome to the Globetrotter Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Globetrotter Blog Hop with the collection designer, Tamarinins, and friends!

Let’s jump right in and take a look at this fun batik collection, perfect for the world travelers among us!

As you see in the video above, Tammy brought this collection to life in some fresh new projects, the highlight being To the Point (60″ x 70″), a guided improv piece with a mid century modern flair. The runner (20″ x 40″) and placemats made with the Pointed Comments pattern use the same guided improv technique. If you’ve been itching to give improv piecing a try but would like a little help, these projects are for you!

Flock (52″ x 69″) plays up the browns found in Globetrotter and makes great use of negative space.

The large blocks in Directionally Challenged (46″ x 62″) show of the large, graphic prints from the Globetrotter collection!

Swan of Swan Amity Studios used the Globetrotter fabrics in two very different ways – a small candle mat, Petals on Point (27″ x 27″), and in whimsical, wonky stars in her quilt, Wish (48″ x 48″)!

You won’t want to miss Seams Like a Dream‘s quick quilt, Split Strip (66″ x 78″) and runner! The large strip piecing means the project goes together fast and shows off your favorite Globetrotter fabrics!

We have one last project to share with you today (but don’t worry, this isn’t the last Globetrotter project you’ll be seeing this week)! It’s a very fitting project indeed – the Round Trip Duffle (12″ x 19.5″ x 7.5″) from ByAnnie!

You’ll be seeing LOTS more Globetrotter goodness throughout the week. Come back each day to see something new. The full schedule for the hop is posted below!

Welcome to the Just In Time Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Just In Time Blog Hop! We’ve got lots of eye candy for your this week, but first, let us tell you what we’re here!

We’ve teamed up with some pretty awesome folks to create a different kind of program for our customers, your local quilt shops! Together with Jackie Kunkel of Canton Village Quilt Works, Deb Tucker of Studio 180 Design, Aurifil, and New York Times Best Selling Author Marie Bostwick, we offered a program that ties together two things our group loves – quilting and reading!

A bit of backstory: As long time friends, Deb has been creating companion patterns for each of Marie’s books (find the full library here). The ladies have invited us to play, too, and the result is one terrific quilt – New Beginnings!

Before we talk quilts, let’s take a peek at the book that started it all – Just In Time.

In her most powerful novel yet, New York Times bestselling author Marie Bostwick weaves the uplifting story of three grief support group dropouts—women united in loss and rescued through friendship.

Fifteen years ago, Grace Saunders vowed to take her beloved husband for better or worse. Now she’s coming to terms with difficult choices as she crafts a memory quilt from scraps of their life together—a life torn to shreds by an accident that has left him in a coma. Enduring months of limbo, Grace is at least not alone.

Nan has been widowed for twenty years, but now, with her children grown, her home feels painfully empty. Even the company of her golden retriever, Blixen, and a series of other rescue dogs, can’t fill the void. Then there’s Monica, a feisty woman with a biting wit who’s reeling following her husband’s death—and the revelation of his infidelity.

As for Grace, a chance evening with a man she barely knows brings a glimmer of joy she hasn’t felt since the tragedy—along with feelings of turmoil and guilt. But her struggle to cope will force all three women to face their fears, share their deepest secrets—and lean on one another as they move from grief and isolation to hope, and a second chance at happiness . . .

Inspired by the characters and themes in the book, Deb created the New Beginnings quilt with our All A Flutter fabrics, which were designed by Kathy Engle for Jackie Kunkel of Canton Village Quilt works. The quilt’s pink, blue, and purple fabrics pop against a crisp background and the design radiates outward creating wonderful movement. The ruler required to make this quilt, the Tucker Trimmer III, makes this exciting design perfect for quilters of all levels, even beginners!

What’s a great quilt without some great coordinating Aurifil threads?! Jackie worked with the fine folks at Aurifil to select some perfect thread pairings for the All A Flutter collection and of course, the New Beginnings Quilt! Don’t these look so yummy together?

The quilty fun doesn’t stop there. Jackie has stitched up a number of gorgeous projects that also feature the All A Flutter fabrics. As a Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructor, of course she had to make at least one Quiltworx design! Let us introduce this lovely Autumn Pines quilt!

Her other new quilts all have patterns available – Floral Delight, Mountains and Plains, Brick by Brick, Slice of Pie, and Suncatcher.

Don’t miss the All A Flutter Tuffet from Tuffet Source! Wouldn’t this make a fabulous addition to your sewing space?! 😍

So how do all of these things tie together? Select shops are offering the full Just In Time Experience! Join them for themed events around the book and the New Beginnings quilt. Get together and read and stitch and enjoy the company of your fellow quilters! The shops below have joined in on the fun. Be sure to call for more information, as events, schedules, and project availability vary. The starred shops have ALSO won a live chat for their customers with the author herself, Marie Bostwick!

Quilting Fairy – Puyallup, WA
Quilt with Passion – Oswego, OR
** Quilt Basket – Wappingers Falls, NY
** Sew In Stitches – Pocatello, ID

Northern Woods

Welcome, welcome, welcome, to the Northern Woods Blog Hop! We can’t wait to share the delicious Northern Woods fabrics and projects with you this week! This collection was designed by Kathy Engle for Nan Baker of Purrfect Spots Designs.

Imagine a sweet momma bear preparing for the winter in the pretty Northern Woods. She tidys up her space, and before she cozies up to hibernate for the season, she bakes up her sweetest treats to share with her woodland friends! The imaginative Nan dreamed up this charming back story as she designed quilts for her Signature Collection!

This earthy fabric collection features natural browns, greens and creams in outdoorsy designs such as trees, pine sprigs, and leaves. Pops of Baja, Bermuda, Celery and Copper add just the right amount of color.

Nan featured these fabrics in quite a few delicious projects! With names like “Blueberry Cheesecake”, “Chocolate Caramel Swirl” and “Butterscotch Ripple”, they are nearly impossible to resist! The best part, you can indulge in each and every one guilt free – they are all zero calorie treats! 😉 You can find all of the Northern Woods Purrfect Spots Designs patterns here on the Purrfect Spots website.

Blueberry Cheesecake (66″ x 66″) features yummy swirls of cheesecake-y creams, graham cracker crust browns, and a pop of teal-blue! Look for kits of this quilt at Quarry Quilts and Yarns (MN), Pieces of Love Quilt Shop (CA), and Hancock’s of Paducah (KY)!

Chocolate Caramel Swirl (54″ x 66″) is a wonderfully approachable design, and would make a fantastic first set-on-point piece! Look for quilt kits of this design at Hancock’s of Paducah (KY)!

Butterscotch Ripple (54″ x 66″) takes the earthy Northern Woods palette and makes it ultra-modern with tons of negative space to show off some stunning quilting.

Fruit Salad (66″ x 78″) looks like it could be set on point, but it’s not! This design offers lots of movement with its friendly blocks – squares in squares and half-square triangles! Look for kits of this quilt at Quilter’s Haven (IL)!

Morels & More (56″ x 69″) offers a tasty appliqué treat for fungi-loving woodland creatures (and quilters)! 😉

Nan worked with past and present Island Batik Ambassadors and fellow designers The Quilt Rambler and Maria Michaels Designs and long-time industry friend Eye of the Beholder Quilt Design to create additional yummy pieces to feature her Signature Collection!

Mint Chocolate Chip by The Quilt Rambler (48″ x 58″) shows the Northern Woods collection in a whole new way! This project can be cut with the help of the AccuQuilt #55070 GO! Drunkard’s Path 3 1/2″ Finished and #55034 GO! Drunkard’s Path 7″ Finished dies.

Prisms by Maria Michaels Designs (32″ x 32″) is a project for the foundation paper piecers among us and a great size for your wall or table.

Yorkshire Pudding Table Linens by Eye of the Beholder Quilt Designs (Runner 14″ x 32″, Placemats 10″ x 15″, Napkins [not pictured] 18″ x 19″) feature Margaret’s signature style in reverse appliqué blocks.

Nan built a recommended thread palette of Aurifil threads that you can pick up and use with your Northern Woods fabrics. Hop on over to the Aurifil blog to read more about the threads she selected!

Look for Northern Woods precuts in your local quilt shop!

We just HAD to have some Funky Friends made up in the Northern Woods collection! Aren’t Ollie Owl and Slowpoke the Sloth just too cute?! Look for Ollie kits at Stitchers Quest (FL) and Slowpoke kits at Downtown Sewing Machine Co. (NV)!

Don’t miss even more Northern Woods goodness throughout the week! You’ll find fresh new posts at each of the blogs below!

City Culture 2

Introducing Bella Nonna Design Studio‘s newest batik collection, City Culture 2!

This colorful collection was inspired the unique cultures found in different spots, often found within a single city! Four color groupings speak to these places: Marketplace is full of floral peachs, pinks, plums and greens, Waterfront shimmers with blues and teals, Uptown‘s sophisticated palette consists of plum and purple with a touch of blue, and Industrial District features steel greys, blacks, and neutrals. Combined, these fabric offer the perfect palette for your next project!

Speaking of projects, there are some wonderful designer pieces highlighting these fabrics from the fabric designers, Jayme Crow and Megan Cook, the Mother-Daughter team behind Bella Nonna. See them below!

The Hostas Block of the Month (73″ x 87″) was inspired by one of Jayme’s favorite plants, which can be found blooming all over her back yard! The 6 month program features raw edge fusible appliqué and lots of gorgeous green and plum colors. Look for this quilt kit or the BOM program at Lori’s Country Cottage (Canada), Sew What Fabrics/Batiks Etc. (VA), Sew With Me (MN), and Hancock’s of Paducah (KY).

Don’t be intimidated by Square Peg, Round Hole (71″ x 90″)! That’s not curved piecing you see, it’s actually fusible appliqué! Look for this quilt at Sew With Me (MN), The Sewing Studio (FL), A Quilted Heart (CA), Calico Creations (WA), Wrapped in Love Quilting (TX), and Hancock’s of Paducah (KY).

Need a sweet, summery table topper? Bloomers (18″ x 60″) is for you! A fusible appliqué project, these blocks can be made into a wall hanging, runner, or individual placemats. Look for kits for this project at Sew What Fabrics/Batiks Etc. (VA), Ann Arbor Sewing Center (MI), The Sewing Studio (FL), and Quilter’s Destination (IL).

The 42 Fat Quarter Quilt (80″ x 86″) uses every single SKU in the City Culture 2 collection! The braided border adds the perfect finishing touch.

These happy pillow duets, Haute Dog and Happy Camper, are a great way to use some of your scraps from the other City Culture 2 projects you’ll be making! 😉 Use them on your bed, sofa, or on a bench under a covered porch.

What would a Bella Nonna pattern release be without some must-have bags?! The Saturday Satchel bag (left) unzips down the center, giving you an extra five inches for market veggies and fresh baked goodies! The sleek Ashlynn Bag features an accent zipper and leather and metal details.

Don’t miss the City Culture 2 tuffet by Tuffet Source which uses a City Culture 2 Strip Pack, and five fabulous Funky Friends made by Island Batik Ambassador, Joan Kawano of MooseStashQuilting! Aren’t they the sweetest?

Southern Blooms

There couldn’t be a more perfect collection to feature as we officially welcome SPRING this week! Anyone else ready for sunny days, warmer weather, and ALL THE FLOWERS?!

Say hello to Southern Blooms, a Signature Collection by Kathy Engle for Ebony Love of LoveBug Studios! 😍

Ebony transformed these colorful floral fabrics into an inspired Block of the Month with five supporting projects! Take a peek at them below!

A Garden for All Seasons Block of the Month (76″ x 76″) is a treat for your eyes! This 8 month program features large blocks accented with fun checkerboard sashing. Look for this program at the following shops: Fox City Quilt Co. (WI), Susan’s Quilt Paradise (CA), My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe (UT), New Beginnings Quilt Shop (NC), Fabrics Etcetera (TX), and Hancock’s of Paducah (KY).

The Alabama Spiral Pillows (24″ x 24″) are the perfect home decor accent, a unique design suitable for any room in the house!

Bonnie Blue (30″ x 120″ Runner, 90″ x 90″ Quilt) began as a runner, but quilters needed MORE of it! Thankfully, Ebony was OK with that! 😉 This pattern includes instructions for both a runner and a quilt! Look for quilt kits for Bonnie Blue at Fabric Art Shop (FL) and Hancock’s of Paducah (KY).

The Sweet Jessamine Throw (63″ x 63″) really is as sweet as can be, with soft pinks, yellow and greens, paired with approachable flying geese, quarter-square triangles, and X blocks. It reminds us of sipping lemonade on the front porch on a warm summer night! Look for kits of this quilt at Hancock’s of Paducah (KY).

The Tennessee Waltz Table Runner (26″ x 58″) features the cooler colors in the Southern Blooms collection in it’s three pieced blocks and unifying borders.

Georgiazalea (65″ x 77.5″) is a modern quilt where “missing” blocks help to create a fantastic secondary pattern!

Ebony worked with Aurifil to curate a perfectly coordinating thread collection of 100% Cotton Mako, 50wt threads! Aren’t they a beautiful bouquet of color? We’ll take two boxes, please! 😉

Be sure to look for these fabrics, threads, and all of the LoveBug Studios patterns in your local quilt shop! If you don’t see them, ask about them! 🙂

Don’t miss these adorable Funky Friends Factory animals – the Easter Bunny Buddies and Hanna Hedgehog!
